Cross-Country Finishes Strong

On Saturday, November 23, individual's from our men's and women's cross country team competed in the North Coast Section Championship meet at Hayward High School. Representing our men's team were Joey Galvan-Carty ('21), Graham Kelloff ('20), Colin Manalang ('23), Henry Nitzberg ('21), Thomas Rombach ('21), Jackson Rubiano ('22), and Leo Siu ('23). Competing for the women's team were Elia Demers ('20), Piper Fleming ('22), Gigi Kenney ('23), Anika Nagpal ('23), Sammy Salazar ('22), Clara Schwartz ('20), Avery Sims ('23).

The Phoenix demonstrated an impressive level of competitive spirit throughout the race and, with such a young roster of runners, will look to build on their success next season.

Thomas Rombach's performance in NCS earned him a place in the CIF State Championship meet on November 30, making him the first Bentley cross country student-athlete to advance to this level of competition. To put the difficulty of this accomplishment into perspective, Thomas had to finish in the top 9 at the regional meet to qualify for state. He represented Bentley well by finishing in the top 100 of a 200-person state race.

Congratulations to Thomas, and all of the members of the cross country team, for a successful season!
