The mission of Bentley School’s Counseling and Student Support program is to address barriers to learning for members of the Bentley Upper School community. Our students face the rigors and expectations of academic excellence along with the normal stresses and strains of developing their own identity as young adults. Counseling and Student Support provides programs and services to help meet these challenges and support the development of both internal and external strengths to help students reach their goals.

The Director of Counseling meets with students on an as-needed basis. Counseling services include crisis intervention, individual counseling, group counseling, peer mediation, and parent consultation. The Director of Counseling also conducts school-wide symposia, trimester-length health education and wellness classes for students, transition support, and in-service training and consultation for faculty and staff. A comprehensive, up-to-date referral network is maintained at the school in order to address more complex or longer-term student concerns. Confidentiality is typically maintained except in situations involving child abuse or if it is determined the student is a danger to him- or herself or others.
