K–2: Start with Wonder

K–2 is the foundation of the Bentley Lower School experience. Our program focuses on intellectual development, developing key academic skills, and increasing emphasis on personal responsibility.

In these years, students first learn the importance of “the desire to know,” the Bentley School motto, which embodies the enthusiastic learning Bentley students engage in.

3–5: Make Stronger Connections

The upper elementary years are a crucial period in our 3rd–5th-graders' learning, as they become more independent and mature students.

During this time, they progress from learning and practicing basic skills to mastering them, while also making strong cross-curricular connections and self-advocating.

6–8: Grow with Confidence

Our Middle School recognizes that students in grades 6-8 are between the worlds of childhood and adolescence. We are the bridge for that transition.

This is a time when friends and teachers have even greater importance in students' lives. Bentley Middle School balances positive social activities, athletics, opportunities for leadership and service, and an appropriately challenging academic curriculum.

9–12: Learn with Joy

Upper School is a time dedicated to the joyful pursuit of educational excellence.

Our curriculum celebrates independent thinking and diversity, with a supportive faculty who are deeply committed to helping our students thrive academically and develop a strong sense of personal purpose as they approach the threshold of college.

Opportunities for older students to stretch into new responsibilities

Students pose questions and explore answers in order to have a personally meaningful experience while also learning to collaborate, to consider multiple perspectives, and to develop practical, relevant, and applicable skills. During this time, students come to better understand themselves as learners, which becomes the basis for future learning and prepares students to approach their year-long courses with fresh perspectives.
