As part of Bentley’s outdoor education program, the Middle School grades each embark on an end-of-year camping trip to celebrate another year together and to bond as a class. This year, our three Middle School grades did beautiful jobs of living together as cohesive units, cooperating to set up and care for their camps together, prepare meals together, and enjoy memorable adventures in together.
The 7th grade left first, setting out for Calaveras Big Trees State Park bright and early on Tuesday morning and jumping right into camp activities like orientation and team-building. They also enjoyed down time together under the beautiful canopy of the forest with card games, soccer, chess, and Twister during the day, as well as campfire talks and stargazing at night. On Wednesday and Thursday, campers also enjoyed hiking, shelter-building, an ecosystem scavenger hunt, and writing and drawing in their field journals. Last night, students gathered as a large group for closing ceremony skits, campfire s’mores, and some core memories made together.
