1st Grade Explores California's Ecosystems

In the Garden class, 1st grade ecologists are immersed in a detailed exploration of our California local ecosystems.

Their focus centers on the biodiversity of the enchanting Leprechaun Forest behind our Mulberry playground. To understand this ecosystem better, 1st grade students were actively engaged in recording their observations in field journals. They've also set up camera traps to capture the post-school visitors to our campus.

As part of this project, each student has been assigned a specific organism inhabiting an oak woodland or a kelp forest. These two ecosystems are prevalent in the Bay Area, making this an especially pertinent study for our young learners.

The culmination of this extensive project promises to be a captivating performance. It will feature dances crafted in Movement class, masks designed in Art class, and a song learned through the collaboration of the Garden and Music classes. We anticipate an exciting showcase of your students' talents as they perform their dance during Grandparents and Special Friends Day.
