French D Visits SF MOMA

Last Friday, the French D students traveled to San Francisco for French food and Art!

To start the morning, they had brunch at Café de la Presse. From oeufs en meurette to croissants and madelines, it was a lovely time. From there, students walked to the SF MOMA to poke around the galleries before taking in the film Copa 71. In this documentary about the 1971 Women’s Soccer World Cup, members of the French national team and women from other nations who participated in the games tell their stories. This record-breaking event, attended by over a hundred thousand, was primarily written out of history due to systemic sexism in the industry of sports in the 1970s. Ultimately, it is a powerful story of pioneering women who set the stage for the vibrant sport that women's football would become. We recommend this film to everyone. Lots of good food for thought.
