Exploring Aviation Wonders: Bentley's 2nd Graders Soar at the Hiller Aviation Museum

Field trips are an incredible advantage for Bentley students, offering an enriching extension of their learning experience.

2nd grade students were excited as they embarked on their first field trip to the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos.

The trip's highlight was undoubtedly the "Amazing Aircraft" workshop, where students had the unique opportunity to delve into aviation-specific vocabulary and even construct their balsa wood gliders. Beyond the workshop, they explored the museum, engaging with various exhibits and gaining hands-on experiences.

For our 2nd graders, the visit became a journey through time, allowing them to witness the inventions of Stanley Hiller, including childhood creations like the Hiller Comet toy race car and the Atomic Ray Gun water pistol. The ultimate thrill was seeing the actual XH 44-Hiller Copter, previously witnessed only in vintage footage, land on what is now the Hiller campus oval. This extraordinary encounter brought Bentley's history to life, leaving a lasting impact on our students.
