Former basketball players, spanning the graduation years from 2004-2018, came back on the court to take on Bentley’s varsity basketball teams. It was a delight to welcome alumni from out of town during their short visit home for Thanksgiving. DJ Edwards ‘18 was thrilled to see former teammates who graduated before him, as well as younger teammates who are still on the Bentley team.
Coach Kelly Thomas says, “It's always good to see alumni and hear about what they are doing in their adult life after Bentley. I caught up with Tiffany Chin ’09 who is now thriving in her career as an optometrist.” The coaches reconnected with Tiffany last year when she stopped by for a visit and learned about the alumni games. She added herself to the roster this year, and also registered her older brother Christopher Chin ‘04 for the men’s alumni team.
Director of Athletics Rob Rafeh adds, “Not only is it fun to welcome the alumni players, but also to see alumni spectate from the bleachers and cheer on their former classmates, who continue to keep in touch. I have the chance to catch up with alumni parents who I’ve come to know over the years, too.”
Alumni showed players they still had the energy in them, but in the end, both varsity teams were victorious. It was a close match for the men’s game (Bentley 61; Alumni 60). The women’s game maintained a steady pace throughout the game (Bentley 37; Alumni 20), but without substitutes on the bench, the alumni played the full game and trailed our varsity team. Colby Vine ‘18, who was out of town this year, hopes to join the alumni team next year, and our current seniors look forward to leading the alumni team to victory. Better luck next year!
